Since this Sunday was following a holiday, I fully expected to have a pretty small group of kiddos today, but you surprised me! We had a wonderful group of you today along with some guests and visitors! Keep bringing your friends and sharing the awesomeness of God's love!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our fabulous kiddos and your families! I hope you have/had a wonderful day filled with lots of love, good food, but most importantly counting all the beautiful blessings in your lives. Advent wreaths and accompanying booklets were handed out to the children today. November 29 is the 1st Sunday in Advent. I hope you will enjoy using these wreaths as a family.
Thank you again to Paul & Sandy Thomae for making these special wreaths and donating the candles. Sincerely, Becca We held a rehearsal during the Sunday School hour today and plan to do so again on 11/29. Things are coming along really well, but I've asked the kids to have their lines & all songs memorized by 12/6/09. As you're helping your child practice at home, please help them be aware of the lines around them so they know when it's their turn to speak.
A practice schedule was handed out today with a tentative practice scheduled on Wednesday, 12/9. I apologize for having gone back & forth on this, but in order to be ready for the 13th, I think it will be necessary to hold this practice. We will practice from 6:15-7:15 p.m. I'm aware some of the kids have activities on Wednesdays, but if it's at all possible for them to be at practice, please try. For the final dress rehearsal on 12/12, please send your child either in their costume or with a change of clothes, as we will feed them lunch again. We will practice from 9:30-12:00, eating lunch from 11:30-12:00. Here are the items we have for costumes: Elves-Hats, shoes, & socks. Reindeer-Antlers, black gloves for hooves What we need from you: Elves-Green and/or red clothing Reindeer-Brown clothing Children of the World-Get to wear the pajamas! This can include robes & slippers. **If you are having difficulty either finding clothing or need other assistance, please let me know as soon as possible so we can help.** What we Still Need: Santa Suit Mrs. Claus dress An artistic somebody to help painting backdrops. I thank you all for getting your children to practices and the help you are giving in learning their lines. Blessings on your week, Becca Another great Sunday! We seem to be holding strong at about 30 kiddos each week, which is awesome! It's great to see your beautiful faces each Sunday! And can I just say...Loved your enthusiasm in Chapel Time today, kiddos! You are all such amazing, special blessings, truly!
We will be having our 2nd rehearsal on Wednesday, 11/18 from 6:15-7:15 p.m. I've been informed that several of you won't be able to make it, so we're going to have a practice during the Sunday School hour on 11/22. You'll go to your classes first for your weekly Bible story, then we'll all get together to practice! Also, on 11/22, we will be handing Advent wreaths out to the children in Sunday School (one per family). This was a tradition when I was a child and one I'm thrilled to carry on now! I'd like to send out a special thanks to my parents, Paul & Sandy Thomae for making these fabulous wreaths for the children & families of our church. I hope to see you Wednesday! Love & blessings on your week, Becca We held our first Christmas Program Rehearsal today (11/14), things went really well, thank you kiddos (and parents) for coming out today!
Practice schedules for November will be handed out tomorrow during Sunday School. With Thanksgiving, there will be few practices for November, while we will most likely have to squish in several those 1st weeks of December. We will focus on learning our songs during chapel time each week so please bring your song sheets. Great job today, kiddos! Thanks to the teachers for your help and to Vera, Jennie, & Kara for running the Thanksgiving dinner crafts! See you in church! Becca The 3rd Graders received Bibles as a gift from the church during both the 1st & 2nd Services today. Four children total were available to receive Bibles. Thanks Zoe, Cole, Ryan, and Ben for being there today!
This is a long standing tradition in our church and one I was excited to continue today! Thank you LUMC for carrying forward with this special gift for our children. It is something they all look forward to, especially those who have watched their siblings before them receive their Bibles. As I see it, these Bibles are simply a way to fulfill the promise we've made to the children of our church when they are baptized to, "nurture one another in the Christian faith and life...and to surround them in a community of love and forgiveness, so that they might grow in their service to others." Enjoy your Bibles, kiddos, as you grow in God's word! Love & Blessings on your week, Becca Christmas Program Information
Dear Parents: Last week you (hopefully) received a Christmas Program Volunteer form. After having looked over the calendar, it’s looking like we’ll be doing a combination of both Wednesday and Saturday practices. I will be getting out calendars with our practice schedule to you by 11/15. Our 1st PRACTICE will be on Saturday, 11/14/09 from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. This is the longest practice we will have, as we will also be making centerpieces and placemats to contribute to the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, which our church is hosting. The morning will run as follows: 9:30-10:30: Program Rehearsal 10:30-11:30: Constructing the placemats and centerpieces 11:30-12:00: Lunch I plan to post weekly notices as to practices and other pertinent information on the children’s website, www.umclaurekidtalk.weebly.com under the Updates-Blog section, I will categorize them under Christmas Program. If you have questions, your child needs to miss a rehearsal, or you need assistance in setting up a ride for your child, please either call me at 672-0207 or e-mail me at [email protected]. Additionally, in regards to Wednesdays, if you would e-mail me, catch me at church, or call me and let me know what time would work best for you I’m thinking either right after school for an hour or 6:30-7:30 p.m. to avoid dinner and hopefully bedtimes. Thank you for your assistance and patience as we get rehearsals up and running! Love and Blessings on your week, Becca As the children of the United Methodist Church reach the 3rd grade, they are given a Bible as a gift from the church.
The children will receive their Bibles on Sunday, November 8, 2009 during church services. We will present the Bibles during both the 8:30 & 10:45 a.m. services. Your child does not need to attend both, you may choose whichever service works best for you and your family. We're looking forward to presenting the children with their Bibles! Sincerely, Becca Today in Sunday School parents and/or children received a Christmas Program Volunteer form. This is to inform you I made an error on that sheet. On the bottom portion requesting a response regarding which day-Wednesdays or Saturdays-would be better for your family, practice-wise actually says Wednesdays or Sundays. Clearly, that's not right. So if you could disregard that and input Saturday instead, that would be outstanding. I apologize for the confusion and my apparent lack of proofreading. Following is a copy of that form if you did not receive one.
LUMC Christmas Program Volunteer Form Dear Parents: I know Halloween has just passed, but already we’re looking to the Christmas Program. This year, I have chosen a program that is a bit more extensive than years past-it will run roughly 40 minutes. Because of this, we will need to have practices outside of the Sunday School hour (I don’t want to cause them to miss out on their lessons). Below, along with a list of areas we will need help with (you are not obligated to sign-up), will be an area for you to mark which day of the week would work best for your family-we’ll choose the majority-picked-day or a combination of both. Even if you are unable to volunteer, please fill out & return the bottom portion to me. I will also be asking for help from the congregation at large to help share the load. At this time I’m not sure how many practices will be needed. Thank you for your prayerful consideration! Sincerely, Becca Stewart Volunteer Activities Compiling-Sharing/Making Costumes - (See the attached list of costumes needed) Set Design - Not a lot is needed, but someone more artistic than I would be appreciated J Providing snacks on practice days Kiddie Coordinating - Helping keep the kids focused and relatively organized at practices Carpooling Pray Which day of the week would best suit your family’s schedule for practices: Wednesdays Saturdays |
