I hope you're ready for it because February is going to be jam-packed full of Caring & Sharing!
February 7th marks the start of our competition amongst the classrooms to see who can collect the most canned food items to donate to Community Hope. You have ALL month to collect! The winners will get a cake & icecream party! All month long you are invited to Bring a Friend. You might be thinking, "I'm always invited to bring a friend, what's so new & exciting about this?" Well this month, if you bring a friend, you and that friend will get to pick a prize from the goody basket! February 14th we will be collecting a special offering to send to Haiti to assist in the relief effort. (Parents, for more information about Haiti visit the church's general website @ http://www.umclaurel.org). February 28th the Sunday School will be putting on a Bake Sale following both services. The money raised from this will be donated to a local charity. I will put together a list of several different agencies and you kids will get to vote to choose which charity will receive our donation! I'm crazy excited for February and to meet all of your wonderful friends! Love & Blessings on your Week, Becca

1/27/10 - Our church's youth (K-5th grade) have been invited by St. Anthony's to go Rollerskating Wednesday, Jan 27th from 4pm-6pm. At the Starlite Roller Rink. The cost is $2.50. If interested, meet at the Skating Rink at 4pm & plan to pick up from there also. Parents are invited & encouraged to join their children.
On Sunday, 1/17, during Chapel Time, the kids had a competition between three groups. The challenge? Who could put the books of the Bible in order the quickest. This can be quite a daunting (tricky) task, as the groups had kiddos preschool age through 5th grade (and let's face it, there's a lot of books in the beautiful Bible). They had 10 minutes to work together putting the books in order, whichever team had the most in order at the end of that time was the WINNER!!! Team Captain, Austin, assisted his team of Cole, Ryan, and Makayla to victory. However, both the other teams put forth valiant (brave) efforts in their search for the big 'W.' No one went home empty-handed, though-while Team Austin received goody bags, all received faith bracelets & scripture coins. I was super proud of ALL the kiddos and how well they worked together!
I'm really looking forward to February Bring a Friend Month. I'm busily searching for prizes for the month and am excited to help you share the Good Word! Love & blessings on your week, Becca |
