The Sunshine Baskets were delivered to Billings Clinic today. After delivering them this morning, I already had a phone call saying they had already been able to hand out a basket this afternoon. The basket was given to a girl in for her cancer treatment and the social worker said it really did brighten her spirits.
You did a wonderful thing kiddos! I'm so proud of you. Remember to keep those who use those baskets in your prayers for health and positive spirits. Love & Blessi

This Sunday the kids made Praying Arm Pretzels during Chapel Time. They had a great time and made some delicious treats!
The purpose of the pretzels is this: Pretzels are a reminder to pray during Lent... Early Christians often stood or kneeled with arms crossed over their chests while praying. The monks, to remind the children to pray during Lent, twisted bread dough to resemble praying arms. This bread was called "little arms" brachellae, later brezel, and then pretzel. If you'd like to do this activity at home, the recipe is short and easy! Ingredients Loaf of frozen bread dough Egg yolk - with a tablespoon of water (1 per each loaf of bread you use) Coarse Salt Directions: Thaw a loaf of frozen bread dough. Let the dough rise according to the directions on the package. Divide the dough in half and place on a floured board (we did our dividing after we had it on the board). Cut each half into about 8 pieces. Between your hands roll each strip into about an 18 inch rope. Shape into pretzels and place them on a greased cookie sheet. Brush the tops of the pretzels with beaten egg yolk mixed with a tablespoon of water. Sprinkle with coarse sat. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Prayer: Gracious God, we ask you to bless these pretzels which we are about to eat. Each time we eat pretzels this season may we be reminded Lent is a time for prayer. Help us to rememberto pray each day. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. Awesome, AWESOME job on the Bake Sale kiddos AND parents! Thanks to all who provided treats and a special thanks to the marvelous kiddos who took turns manning the table and sales! We were extremely blessed with generosity on Sunday, 2/28. We were able to raise $289.96 and after the kids' vote on Sunday the procedes are going to make Sunshine Baskets for the Pediatric Ward at Billings Clinic. These baskets will contain games and other fun things for the kids who are staying in the hospital. I hope to gather all the items and baskets so the kids can put together the baskets on 3/7/10. |
