Since we've upped the ante on Bible verse memorization this past week, it was pointed out to me that it might be helpful to share the Bible verses so that the parents can help their kiddos earn a trip to the Treasure Chest. I'll do my best to stay on top of the verses and sharing them here in the Kid Connection. First, the curriculum that we're currently using (Grow, Proclaim, Serve!) makes life a little easier in the land of memorizing verses because the focus is on one verse over the course of a unit. I'm considering adding bonus prize opportunities for being able to share about the previous week's story/lesson, so take the time and look over the sheets your kids are (hopefully) bringing home from Sunday school each week. So, with no further ado, the Bible verses... Unit 1: Sept. 8-Sept. 29 "Speak, Lord. Your servant is listening." -1 Samuel 3:9 Unit 2: Oct. 6-Oct. 29 "I will live in the Lord's house as long as I live. -Psalm 23:6 In the meantime, I'll try and drop a line about the stories the kids are exploring each week, just in case your Sunday school papers get lost in that mysterious vortex that ours do in my family. See you in Sunday school, bring a friend! Becca

In Sunday school land at Laurel UMC if you want to take a trip to Miss Becca's treasure chest, you must tell her last week's Bible verse. This is all well and dandy but we've been rocking the same verse for the past few weeks, so it was time to up the ante. Given our wide-ranging ages, if the kiddos knew the verse, but not necessarily the verse (1 Samuel 3:1-21, for example) they could still take a trip to the treasure chest. However, this past Sunday (Oct. 6) we made knowing the whole enchilada a necessity. So in order to sneak a peek into the treasure chest the kids need to know the verse and the book, chapter, and verse number. We also happened to get a new verse this week, so if the kids come in knowing the whole enchilada from our previous verse plus their new verse, then they get to walk away with two treasures! Not too shabby, if I say so myself...And I do! So, be sure to study those verses kiddos, we'll see you at Sunday school! |
